2014 June 12:

As the World Cup 2014 opens, CAPat celebrates the beauty of Brazilian coins and the joy they can bring.

The experiments shown can be done with simple, inexpensive and widely available ceramic block magnets.

The photographs are the result of some 21 years of investigation of the educational value of magnetic coins by the
Magic Penny Trust.

Many new magnetism demonstrations have been developed which have amazed senior scientists and engineers.

The Trust was established following the success of the Blow Spinning and Balancing of Magnetic Coin demonstrations at the 1993 Edinburgh Science Festival. Many of all ages and experiences enjoyed it. see historic photographs and information

6. A diamond of four 1 REAL coins balanced on a table due to the magnetic field of 4 ceramic block magnets out of sight above.
See VIDEO of it spinning by blowing.

9. Now there are four. The 1 REALcoin is attached by its rim to a 5 centavo coin which is hanging from a magnetic probe.

10. Now there are six ! Instead of the probe, much less expensive ceramic block magnets can also be used.
